Research Subcommittee for the Implementation of Geopolymer Technology in the Civil Engineering Field
AAMs, including geopolymers (GPs), are solidified by the condensation polymerization reaction of a powder (active filler) containing a large amount of Si, Al, and Ca components and an alkaline silica solution such as water glass. In addition to having the same basic performance as conventional cement solidification, cement-free AAMs are superior in terms of low carbon emissions (some estimate that CO2 emissions from cement production are about 8% of total emissions), immobilization of radioactive waste and other hazardous substances, acid resistance, high temperature resistance, and alkali aggregate reactivity.

Research Subcommittee on Evaluation of Water Penetration into Concrete and its Applications
Standard specifications for concrete structures 2017 (Design) published by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers adopted for the first time a verification method for rebar corrosion using water penetra-tion as an index. In this revision, it was decided to directly incorporate the effect of water into the verification equation, since water has a large effect on rebar corrosion. At the same time, the JSCE-G 582-2018 standard, “Test method for water penetration rate coefficient of concrete subjected to water in short term” was enacted. These are an important step towards the development of concrete engi-neering.

The English Summary Edition of JSCE Standard Specifications for Concrete Structures is available now.
With increasing the opportunities of reference in overseas construction projects and demands of disseminating information internationally, JSCE Concrete Committee published the summary of JSCE standards in English. The translation target is “General Principal” 2012 ver., “Design” and “Materials and Constructions” 2017 ver., and “Maintenance” 2018ver., and “General Requirements”, which indicates the principals of construction activities, was translated the whole as possible and “Standards”, which indicates the standards methods in Japan, was partially translated. This will be used to refer all over the world.
