n         Recommendation of Environmental Performance Verification for Concrete Structures (draft)

The English translation of the Recommendation of Environmental Performance Verification for Concrete Structures (draft) has been published.

Although it is extremely important to evaluate how the construction of civil engineering structures contributes to economic and environmental benefits as a means of fulfilling social accountability, only a few comprehensive studies have been conducted, especially concerning environmental benefits.

This Recommendation (draft) is intended to extend the application of the performance verification concepts, which are currently utilized by the JSCE Standard Specifications for Concrete Structures, to the environment. The introduction of the concepts of genvironmental performanceh related to concrete structures and its verification is a new aspect of this Recommendation (draft) and is considered a significant attempt.

n        Subcommittee on Structural Performance of Concrete Structures with Material Deterioration (JSCE 331)

Under the JSCE Concrete Committee, there are more than 30 subcommittees. The subcommittee 331 focuses on structural performance of deteriorated concrete structures, including reinforcement corrosion in concrete. It was organized in May 2004 and will publish a report on its activities of the first two years in September 2006.

n        JSCE Recommendations on Continuous Fiber Materials for Concrete published so far

The JSCE Concrete Committee has been researching into Continuous Fiber Materials for Concrete Structures since 1980s as a pioneer in this field. It has published several reports and recommendations so far. Some of them were translated into English and are available through a web site.
