【抄録】 平成12年10月の地理情報システム（GIS）関係省庁連絡会議での申し合わせでは，GISの整備・普及を早急に図る観点から，「民間データの活用と品質評価の検討」が主要課題の一つとして挙げられている．地理情報の相互利用を促進するため，政府のデータを民間に提供するだけではなく，民間のデータの品質を評価し，適切な品質を備えたものは行政でも活用することが可能な環境を早期に整備する必要がある．そこで本研究では，地方公共団体と民間企業が地域空間データを共用できるようにするために，ユーティリティ企業が整備しているGISデータと行政が整備しているデータとを比較し，品質を検証した．本研究の成果によって，民間のデータを行政で利用できることがわかったため，GISデータの整備・普及が促進される．
<Abstract> GIS data that maintained by the utility enterprise and the governments were compared, and verify the quality of utility enterprise's data. By the results of this study, governments use the private enterprise data, and promote maintaining and spreading GIS data. In the point of view promoting and spreading GIS, the government offices conference concerned GIS suggests the subject "principal use of private GIS data and investigate of quality assessment" as principal one. For promoting mutual utilization of geographic information, the circumstance for evaluating quality of private sector's survey results and using GIS data with proper quality in governments have to be established.
