JSCE will send an Emergency Assessment and Relief Assistant Team to Indonesia  

A massive 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit the Island of Java, Indonesia on 27 May 2006, flattening the city of Yogyakarta. More than 5,000 people were killed, thousands injured, and some 50,000 left homeless.  

In responding to the emergency, JSCE (Prof. Masanori Hamada, President) has formed an emergency assessment and relief assistant team. The Team will be going into the afflicted areas and conducting researches on the damages as well as relief activities in cooperation with local relief groups and agencies.
