Presentation entry and registration for the 35th Conference of Infrastructure Planning (Spring Meeting 2007) have started. You are kindly advised to read carefully the conference details below and proceed to entry procedures.

Important information

  • The Spring Meeting 2007 will consist of the three sections: (I) Planning Session, (II) Young Researchers Session, and (III) Special Session (SS).
  • For the Planning and Young Researchers Sessions, a presenter is allowed to present only one paper, in another word, two or more papers cannot make the entry with the same presenter (this will not apply to papers for the Special Session and multiple entries as a co-author).
  • After completion of paper entry, the paper title and presenter/coauthor names cannot be changed.
  • Papers applied to be presented in the Planning Session or the Young Researchers Session are required to be submitted in advance by the due date. Otherwise, their presentations may not be allowed.
  • Papers that do not suit objectives of the individual sessions may be turned down.
  • To restrain the no. of parallel sessions, the coming spring conference will consist of 80 sessions at the maximum. Thereby, for the Planning Session and Young Researchers Session, the organizer might ask some presenters to change the presentation method (e.g.: switching to a poster session), or there might be a case that some papers cannot be accepted. Updated information on this matter will be announced on the Infrastructure Planning Committeefs web site.

Outline of the Spring Meeting 2007

1. Date: June 9 (Saturday) - June 10 (Sunday), 2007

2. Venue: Hakozaki Campus, Kyushu University (6-10-1 Hakozaki Higashi-ku Fukuoka 812-8581)

3. Sessions

(I) Planning Session

The Planning Session features intensive discussion on specific topics, forward-looking focus on practical and technical issues, and introduction of flash and fledging topics. Those who wish to present their papers in the Planning Session are asked to make an entry following the procedure below. Papers presented in this session will be allowed to apply for the Journal, Infrastructure Planning Review which will be published in fall 2008.

(II) Young Researchers Session

In this session, mainly single-authored dissertations on discretional topics of doctoral degree candidates or of those who have just obtained their doctorates are expected to be intensively discussed, and presenters will be able to appoint commentators. Those who wish to present their papers in the Planning Session, please make an entry following the procedure below. Papers presented in this session will be allowed to apply for the Journal, Infrastructure Planning Review which will be published in fall 2008.

(III) Special Session (SS)

The Special Session is to be organized with the aim of broad view exchanges thorough discussions at panel meetings and mini-symposia on on-going efforts for any topics and on flash and fledging topics. Those who wish to present their papers in the Special Session, please make an entry following the procedure below. Papers presented in this session are not eligible for applying for the Journal, Infrastructure Planning Review which will be published in fall 2008.

4. Entry procedures for the Sessions

To make an entry of paper presentation at the conference, online or post application is required. Please note that the paper title and presenter/co-author names cannot be changed after completion of paper entry. A presenter can present only one paper, thereby the no. of paper for which a person can make an entry as a presenter is limited to one (this is not applied to an entry as a co-author or presenter for the Special Session. There may be a case that a paper presentation is turned down due to the limited capacity for presentations.

1) Deadline (for both online and post application): March 16 (Friday), 2007 (for post application, as indicated by the postmark on the envelope.)

2) Required information (for post application, the format is free and A4 size paper should be used.)

(I) Planning Session
  1. Identify the session title as gPlanning Sessionh
  2. Choose one sub-session among those listed on the table below and specify its topic.
  3. Names of the presenter/co-authors and the affiliations,
  4. Contact address (name, zip code, address, tel. and fax. no., e-mail address (a must))
  5. Paper title and the abstract (within about 400 Japanese characters or 200 English words)
  6. Possibility of session change: There might be a case that sub-session program cannot include all applied paper presentations. If your paper presentation could be moved to another sub-session, please note it identifying the sub-session topic.
(II) Young Researchers Session
  1. Identify the session title as gYoung Researchers Sessionh
  2. Names of the presenter/co-authors and their affiliations, the year of presenterfs doctoral degree (or the expected degree year for a doctoral candidate).
  3. Contact address (name, zip code, address, tel./fax. no., e-mail address (a must))
  4. Paper title and the abstract (within about 400 Japanese characters or 200 English words)
  5. Names of commentators (maximum three in preferential order.)
  6. Possibility of session change: There might be a case that Young Researchers Session program cannot include all applied paper presentations. If your paper presentation could be moved to the Planning Session, please note it identifying the sub-session topic.
(III) Special Session (SS)
  1. Identify the session title as gSpecial Sessionh
  2. Specify a sub-session topic.
  3. Name and affiliation of the session organizer
  4. Organizerfs contact address (name, zip code, address, tel./fax. no., e-mail address (a must))
  5. Outline of the session (within about 400 Japanese characters or 200 English words)
  6. Expected presenters and their presentation topic.

3) The deadline for paper submission prior to the conference and a request of preparation of paper copies to be distributed at the presentation site

The Conference program will be finalized in mid May. A 6,000 yen (tentative) entry fee per presentation will be charged later. Please note that the entry fee would not be refunded even if a paper manuscript was not submitted (including the case of overdue submission).

5. Conference registration

All those who will participate in the Conference are required to make on-line registration on the conference web site during the period from 12:00 May 7 (Monday) to 17:00 May 18 (Friday), 2007. The invoice of the registration fee will be sent to registrants later. An ID code will be issued upon registration. Registrants will be able to download paper manuscripts on the web site logging in with the ID code hopefully from around mid May prior to the Conference.

On-site registration will also be possible. The registration fee 6,000 yen (tentative) is to include the Conference Proceedings on CD-ROM.

6. Notes

Pre-Conference Proceedings will not be published. Paper manuscripts will be available on site as presentersf handouts or they will be able to be downloaded on the Conference web site.
